셀리코는 망막질환으로 시각 장애를 앓고 있는 환자들에게 시력을 복원할 수 있는 전자눈 장치와 AR글래스를 만드는 첨단 헬스케어 스타트업 입니다. 망막질환에 걸리게 되면 시세포층이 손상이 되어 더이상 빛을 감지하지 못하게 됩니다. 우리 셀리코는 손상된 시세포층에 카메라에 사용되는 반도체 이미지센서를 생체 적합하게 만든 후, 망막에 삽입해 환자들이 다시 시력을 되찾을 수 있는 전자눈 장치를 국내 최초로 개발하고 있습니다.셀리코가 개발중인 전자눈은, 망막색소변성증 혹은 황반변성증으로 인해 손상된 시세포층에 카메라역할을 하는 이미지센서 칩을 삽입하는 장치입니다. 삽입된 이미지센서는 빛을 감지해 이를 생체전기신호로 변환하는 기능을 갖추고 있어, 말기 시각장애 환자들의 시력 복원을 가능케 합니다. 현재 셀리코는 시세포를 대체할 이미지센서 설계 기술과 생체적합 패키징 기술을 확보했으며, 동물실험을 통해 안전성을 검증하는 중에 있습니다. 그리고 망막질환 초중기 환자들의 겪는 터널시야(tunnel vision) 및 중심 암점(central scotoma) 시야를 보정할 수 있는 스마트 증강현실(AR) 안경과 환자 맞춤형 모바일 APP를 개발 중입니다.
Cellico is a high-tech healthcare start-up producing retinal prosthesis and AR glasses that can restore vision of patients suffering from visual impairment caused by retinal diseases. For patients with retinal diseases, their photoreceptor layer is damaged and can no longer detect light. We are the first company in Korea developing a retinal prosthesis that allows patients to regain sight by making the image sensor used in the camera bio-compatible with the damaged photoreceptor layer and ｉnserting it into the retina.The retinal prosthesis under development by Cellico is a device that ｉnserts an image sensor chip that functions as a camera into the photoreceptor layer damaged by retinitis pigmentosa or macular degeneration. The ｉnserted image sensor detects light and converts it into bio-electrical signals, restoring visions of patients with end-stage blindness. Cellico has secured the two technologies: technology of designing the image sensor that can replace photoreceptor cells; and bio-compatible packaging. And is now in the process of verifying safety through animal experiments. And Cellico developed smart AR glasses and a patient-customized mobile application that can correct tunnel vision and central scotoma in the vision experienced by patients in the early and middle stages of retinal diseases. -
